The Cuisine Good Food Awards is New Zealand's most respected restaurant rating system, and a Hat is the industry's mark of excellence. Awarded annually by a panel of anonymous, professional judges, Hats recognise restaurants for the quality of their food, service and overall dining experience, judged against the very best in the country.
A Two Hat rating is reserved for restaurants that go beyond consistency, delivering food, service and hospitality of exceptional, sustained quality, kitchens judged not just excellent on a good night, but excellent every night.
For TOAST & OAK, moving from One Hat to Two Hats in 2026 reflects a team that kept refining rather than settling, sharper cooking, deeper relationships with our growers and producers, and a wine programme that continues to grow alongside the food. It's recognition of where we've come from, and a marker for where we're headed next.
